David specializes in business law, business organization, corporate and Board governance, and serving as general counsel on behalf of clients. He advises executives, boards of directors, board committees and individual directors and officers of for-profit and nonprofit organizations on domestic and international governance, risk assessment, legal compliance, internal investigations, and the legal implications of business strategies and decisions. David is Executive Director of the Corporate Institute, University of Minnesota Law School, and President and Board Member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, Minnesota Regional Chapter. Previously, David served as general counsel, international business counsel and business executive with several Fortune 500 corporations, and held senior government positions with the State of Minnesota and the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities. While a senior State government official and member of the Governor’s Cabinet, David framed a number of innovative initiatives for Governor Jesse Ventura. David uses his extensive experience in law, business and government to form collaborations and opportunities among diverse business interests on innovative and cost-effective strategies to minimize legal risk and maximize business results.
